What "Under 1K" Actually Means

A few of the creators in this dataset have under 100 followers. One has 24. One has 49. These aren't bots, they're real people with niche, well-shot content. The follower count is genuinely tiny.

What they have in common:

  • A specific niche the brand can recognize at a glance (esports, equestrian, dance, gaming, UGC, wedding planning)
  • UGC-style content the brand can repurpose for its own ads
  • Often a personal discount code or sponsor hashtag the brand can track
  • Frequently part of a team, club, sorority, or event the brand sponsored as a unit

Regional food and beverage brands are some of the most accessible deals at this tier. They need local-feeling content and they pay creators by reach × engagement, not by follower count alone.

LaCroix

  • Content Style: Sparkling-water lifestyle integration with #ad and #sponsored tags. "Fit with LaCroix" outfit-plus-drink content.
  • Creator Profile: A 337-follower TikTok creator, 15% engagement.

  • Content Style: Esports team partnership for gaming-furniture content. Discount code link in caption, team tag, esports recruiting hashtags.
  • Creator Profile: A 68-follower TikTok esports team account, 5.8% engagement.
  • Pitch angle: Dubby.gg sponsors entire amateur esports teams, not just individual creators. If you have or can rally a small Rocket League, Valorant, or CS team, pitch as a unit. The team-sponsorship pitch is dramatically easier to land than a solo creator pitch at this tier.

The common thread is none of them pitched themselves as "creators." They pitched themselves as something more specific:

  • A gamer who plays the exact title the brand makes content for
  • A wedding-vendor adjacent person with access to a specific local event the brand wanted to sponsor
  • An esports team the brand could plaster its logo on
  • An equestrian community member with direct access to the brand's exact buyer

That's the under-1K playbook. You're not selling reach. You're selling a specific audience access the brand can't buy elsewhere, even from creators 100x your size.


Why Brands Hire Sub-1K Creators

It's not about reach. It's about three things:

  1. Hyper-niche audience access. A 49-follower CoD creator has 49 followers who play CoD. A 200K lifestyle creator has 200K followers who don't.
  2. UGC asset farming. Your video isn't being measured by its views on your account. It's being repurposed into the brand's paid ads. They care about content quality, not your follower count.

Pick a Niche So Specific Brands Can Name It

The creators getting paid here aren't "fashion creators" or "gamers." They're "thrift-fashion creators," "Rocket League esports team members," "Call of Duty Warzone clip creators," "poi-spinning performers." The narrower your niche, the smaller the brand pool but the higher your odds with each one.

Pitch a Group, Not Just Yourself

If you can rally a group (team, club, sorority, event, community), the pitch becomes "fund our group" rather than "pay me," which is dramatically easier for a brand to say yes to at this tier.

Brands at this tier are buying assets they can repurpose. Shoot like you're making their ad before you pitch. Real reaction, real lighting, hook in the first two seconds. Show them what they'll get, don't ask them to imagine it.

Brands at this tier won't hunt for your email. Your bio needs: what you create, your niche, and how to reach you. Treat it as a landing page.


Reality Check

Some honest limitations of the under-1K tier:

Best odds under 1K:

  • DTC brands with personal codes (HQfit, Velora, TikTok Shop)
  • Niche-vertical hobby brands (UltraPoi, EquiZen, Dancewear-style brands)
  • Regional food and coffee chains (Scooter's, Sir Walter Candy)
  • Resale and rental fashion (Depop, Nuuly)
  • Tech and gaming brands with open affiliate or team programs (Adobe, Dubby.gg, Call of Duty)
  • Event sponsorships where the creator is event-adjacent

Tougher under 1K:

  • Mainstream beauty (most still cap entry at 5-10K followers)
  • Luxury fashion
  • Most national restaurant chains (beyond regional ones)
  • Anything paid in cash rather than affiliate revenue

The brands working at this tier almost universally pay through codes, affiliate links, gifted-plus-cash hybrid deals, or group sponsorships. Pure flat-fee cash deals at under 1K followers are rare. Don't pitch a $500 flat fee. Pitch a code-revenue split, an affiliate partnership, or a group sponsorship.
